I bought this and it does not work. I plugged it in and nothing happened. I tried their trouble shooting tricks and still nothing happened. Of course, I thought I’d made a mistake, so I went through the procedure again. Still nothing. I got a message that said the disk drive could not be fragmented. Ok, so now I am packing this device back up and sending it on it’s way. I’ll spend my money on something that works.

I purchased this exact same unit from QVC (at a much higher price), and it didn’t work. Since then, QVC has discontinued selling this product. Very disappointed, since this seemed like an easy answer to transferring data from my old PC to the new one.

After receiving the product i’ve spent over 2 weeks trying to get it to work on my wifes computer, no support from the company and it’s just a hassle. Wish I bought a HARD DRIVE and just backed up the files myself, I would not recommend this product.

First id like to say, I’ve never left a negative review, this is the first. We bought this piece of junk to back up our business data, we had 39 gigs of data, the most important of which was our quickbooks, this device would not reregister quickbooks not only that it kept us from reinstalling it because it was not in add remove programs and we were unable to uninstall from the drive, it would not reregister any programs that needed to be reregistered, it did restore text files and non registered programs. iv used ghost for years and never had this kind of disaster, our quickbooks data was restored from a flash drive. after reformatting xp and installing programs one at the time. 2 and a half days of trying to restore from this worthless, less than useless piece of junk. Oh its easy to use, it just doesn’t work! or didn’t for us, let your concience be your guide.

This product absolutely did not work on my Sony Vaio PC! Although it backed up many files, a close check reveals that AT LEAST 1/2 of my files DID NOT GET BACKED UP. Warning: Don’t assume that just because it appears to work that all of your files are really backed up. Other complaints:

    1) Missing photos: If I compare the same directories on the Clickfree as on my PC, the number of files is different. In many cases, the number of photos in the same directory on the Clickfree is much less than on my PC.

    2) Strange directory names: Many directory names have changed, and many are missing…or maybe I just can’t find them, because the Clickfree browser is slow, clumsy and doesn’t follow standard navigation conventions.

    3) Directory structure not preserved: It appears that when Clickfree “intellegently” finds files to back up, it doesn’t fully preserve directory structures. I use directory structures like many users to find photos. Losing this structure makes Clickfree useless to me.

    4) Customer Service Hours: Customer service is closed at 7pm on weekdays and closed ALL WEEKEND. Aren’t those the times most people need help? It’s New Year’s Day right now. So…I can’t get support until Monday.

Maybe this product works well with SOME PC’s. But I can say with 100% confidence that it did NOT work on my Vista PC. What a waste of time and money. I’m sending it back to Amazon!

Addendum: After working with ClickFree customer service, it STILL DOESN’T WORK. Back to Amazon!
