Install Ubuntu Linux Under Windows XP

1. Download Ubuntu Linux
Goto Ubuntu Linux website to download Ubuntu Linux Appliance. Current version is Ubuntu 5.10.

2. Unzip the Ubuntu Linux appliance
Uncompress the Ubuntu Linux appliance, you should have two VMware files.

Ubuntu-5.10.vmdk
Ubuntu-5.10.vmx

3. Start VMware Player
Select VMware Player from the Start > Programs > VMware menu in Windows XP.

4. Open a virtual machine
When you open VMware Player, a dialog box is displayed. Browse for the configuration file of the virtual machine you want to play. In this case, we will open Ubuntu-5.10.vmx file to start Ubuntu Linux. VMware Player automatically opens the virtual machine and powers it on.

Note:
Press CTRL+G to direct input into virtual machine.
Press CTRL+ALT to return to your computer (host machine)

By default, login username is ubuntu and password is ubuntu.
