I upgraded from Vista, glad to get rid of it! The upgrade took a long time and seemed to work ok. When it rebooted it failed to start and now is inoperable. This is the end of the line for me with Microsoft. I am on another computer and am ready to bite the apple.

If pretty is all it takes to make you like an operating system, you will like Windows 7. If you are looking for a really good OS, forget about it, it is Microsoft after all, what did you expect? Their main claim to fame is it's better than Vista. What isn't?

I upgraded from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate, and many of the problems that were there with Vista are still there. In fact, there are many new problems. Also, be prepared to spend your entire weekend installing Windows 7 and attempting to fix the problems.

First, we are ripped off with Vista, now we are screwed with this overpriced upgrade. No doubt, Microsoft thanks their luck stars they have a monopoly on desktop operating systems. Otherwise, I suspect, their client base would be shrinking fast. They haven't cranked out anything good in a long time.

I am an IT professional, so I have to use Microsoft products. Otherwise, I wouldn't use most of them.

I have Vista 64 Ultimate and ordered the upgrade to Windows 7.
After 2 hours and several reboots I get an error saying:

"This version os Windows could not be installed..."

I ran the upgrade advisor, I checked the online upgrade advisor from the Upgrade DVD and there were no issues.
The setup did not object and I have more than 50GB free space on the C: drive.

Yet, it fails.
Now I have to hunt down the elusive, and often crappy, MS support.

What a waste of money.

If this is M$ "flagship" OS I am not impressed.

Same old MS BS, some old crap.

Get Ubuntu and save yourself $$$.
I notice that about 80% of the reviews give Windows 7 a high rating. All I can figure is they either work for Microsoft or are being paid to lie. This is about the most worthless peice of garbage that has come out. This is worst than WIN98 before SE. First, I am not a novice. I've been into computers since 1972, starting with computer programming school. If you buy this thing, you are in for more frustration than you ever imagined. In a nut shell...Windows 7 will make you a slave to Microsoft. You will have very little control over what you can do. Your computer will burp, belch, cough and wheeze everytime you try to load an older program. I have programs that are less than a year old that will not work with this operating system and the vendor says they have no plans to upgrade. My antivirus program WAS Shield Deluxe 2009. Won't work with Windows 7. They told me to buy Shield Deluxe 2010 to be compatible. I just bought 2009 three months ago. Microsoft has really ripped the public with this one. Want some frustrating excitement???? Buy it...you'll be sorry. Get ready to curl up in a corner in the fetal position and cry. It's a real bummer. I just printed five pages of instructions from Microsoft for taking my computer back to XP Pro. I'll bet it won't work, either.
Windows 7 sounds great, but I am not pleased with the upgrade pricing. I purchased a new laptop 14 months ago and paid the premium to have vista ultimate as my os. Microsoft needs to look at ending the pricing penalty currently built in that gives users no credit/discount for their previous purchase.
